Lisbon Central School provides a free and appropriate public education to students with disabilities in an environment that is deemed least restrictive for each student. A continuum of services, in compliance with State and Federal guidelines, is provided to accommodate children’s needs.

Lisbon’s Special Education Department is comprised of special education teachers, a school psychologist, speech/language pathologists, an occupational therapist and a physical therapist. Our team of highly qualified professionals provide comprehensive services to complement and strengthen our educational program. All special education personnel collaborate with regular education staff to ensure special needs students are able to successfully participate in the regular education curriculum to the greatest extent possible.

Parents are valued partners in the Planning and Placement Team process. They are encouraged to attend all meetings and participate fully in the development of Individualized Education Plans, which will help students achieve their personal best.

Please visit the following link to view the Connecticut State Department of Education, Bureau of Special Education website which contains valuable online information regarding the PPT process.
